Separate pairing byes from requested byes. Forced odd-field byes, half-point requests, withdrawals, and late arrivals often score differently and should not share one unchecked count.
Audit the low score group before posting. A legal-looking bye can still be unfair if the chosen player already received a full-point bye or sits above eligible lower-score players.
