Warhammer Age of Sigmar is made up of table fights for two or more players. Players can build armies with Folks, Dwarves, Elves, dead Vampires, Orcs, Beasts and many other types. The game belongs to the world of high fantasy, where huge fights from legends happen, duels between heroes, gods together with monsters.
Unlike the old Warhammer Fantasy that required endless rules and blocky unit lists, Age of Sigmar takes more from the style of 40k-rules. The models can be placed within one inch of gap and move one after the other even so they must stay in one group.
In this game Points play an important role. For a usual game one uses 2000 Points, also during casual play. For such scales the battlefield requires 44 by 60 inches and at least eight bits of terrain.
There also exist smaller or bigger versions: 1000 Points for Vanguard games and 2500 for Warhost games. When one side beats the other by 100 to 200 Points the match still stays fairly balanced, depending on the whole size.
To find the exact Points values these days it is quite easy. One finds the Points system in books about armies, by means of a list in the app or at the website of Warhammer Community. There exist free downloads that combine all values in one file.
Such aids are useful whether you play at home at a friend, meet newcomers in a local store ore participate in a tournament. The app of Warhammer Age of Sigmar also delivers updates about Points.
Over the years the Points adjusted slowly. They last changed in June 2021 as part of the Manual of the General, and almost did not adjust after that, except because of new books and something about Dragons. During the launch of the fourth edition, one issued Points for every model together with fresh rules for Regiments of Fame and Armies of Fame.
Because of the scope of those changes one made them available for free.
In the new system of regiments, the most of them, led by a hero on foot, cost between 500 and 700 Points. Like this one army can hold elf, dwarf and human units, that work well together. Some units received big changes.
For instance three models of Praetors now value 110 Points. Characters and infantry from various groups widely grew by five or ten Points, while Commanders of Vaporous Tank oddly dropped by 20 Points. Sharing Points before pre-orders became good habit, because it allows time for playtesting.
Although knowing the Points before exit warscrolls seemed to some funny, the general weakening of profiles caused that many playersfelt unsure about the guide in the fourth edition.
