Count only exposed ends: Covered sides of the spinner stop contributing. If a branch is blocked but still visibly exposed at your table, leave its pips in the exposed total and mark the block separately.
Agree on the spinner convention first: Some groups count the double once per open arm, while others count only the free ends. Use the same convention for every preset and table call.
