Padel Court Dimensions Calculator

🏓 Padel Court Dimensions Calculator

Check the playing box, service lines, net heights, access space, and roof clearance before you set the layout.

This calculator compares your site against the official 10 x 20 m padel court, the 5 cm line width, the 0.88 m net center, the 0.92 m ends, and the 6 m minimum clear height.

Layout Inputs
Metric shows metres and centimetres for the padel layout.
Baseline 10 x 20 m court with standard access and clearance.
Outdoor courts are usually set long axis north-south.
Out-of-court play needs open, symmetric access points.
Inside length measured from end wall to end wall.
Inside width measured from side wall to side wall.
The minimum clear height is 6 m; new sites often aim for 8 m.
No obstacles should sit within the run-off strip.
End run-off is deeper because of lobs and recovery steps.
Measured from the net to each service line.
The center tape sits lower than the posts.
Use the post-side height for a compliance check.
All painted lines are 5 cm wide.
Choose a width that matches the selected access layout.
Public installations also need safe door details.
Lights should sit outside the court and above play height.

💡 Tips

Measure the inside box first

Use the 10 x 20 m interior rectangle before you judge walls, fences, or access openings.

Plan the roof and run-off together

A court can pass on paper yet fail if the ceiling, lights, or safety clearances are too tight.

Use the score as a quick fit check, then confirm the official dimensions, access points, and overhead room before you draw permanent lines.

To construct a padel court, the court must be constructed according to specific dimension. The interior playing area of the padel court must be 20 meter in length and 10 meter in width. This means that the playing area will have a total area of 200 square meter.

The perimeter of the playing area of a padel court will be 60 meter. The walls of the padel court must be at least 4 meter in height. The end walls of the padel court will be comprise of solid panels and mesh fencing.

Padel Court Size and How to Build It

The side walls of the padel court will be comprised of glass so that the spectators can view the action quick. Each service box of the padel court will be 5 meter in width and slightly more than 3 meter in depth. The service boxes will be located near the net of the padel court.

The service line will be located at a distance of 6.95 meter from the center of the net. To execute a serve in padel, the players will serve the ball underhand into the service box. If the serve dont land within the service box, it will be considered a fault.

The net of the padel court will be 88 centimeter in height at the center of the net. The height of the net will be 92 centimeter at the posts. The lines that will delineate the court will be 5 centimeter in width.

Such a width will ensure that the players and the spectators easily visible the lines. If the lines are too thick, they may impact the way in which the players perceive the bounce of the padel ball. If the lines are too thin, they may be difficultly to see.

The clearances outside the padel court will be referred to as safety clearances. The safety clearances outside of the padel court along each side will be at least 3 meter in size. At each end of the court, the safety clearances will be at least 4 meter in size.

These safety clearances will allow the players to run and dive towards the net without impact any of the courts barriers. If there isnt enough safety clearance outside of the court, the player may impact the barrier of the court. Moreover, the ball may impact a spectator outside of the court.

Indoor padel courts will have a minimum ceiling height of 6 meter. An 8 meter height in the indoor court will be of great benefit to the players since it will allow them to execute overhead smashes on the ball. The orientation of the outdoor courts will be towards the north and south direction.

Ensuring that the padel courts are oriented towards the north and south directions will ensure that the sun does not shine into the eyes of the players. If the outdoor courts were to be built in the east and west direction, the sun will glare on the players eyes during the afternoon. The padel courts will have access points to the courts for the players and spectators to enter the courts.

Each side of the padel court will have one or two access points. The access points will be approximately 1 meter in width and 2 meter in height. Two access points on each side of the padel court will be beneficial to those playing in doubles since two entry points will allow the coaches and spectators to enter the court without disturb the games between the players.

When building a padel court, there are some mistake that should of been avoided. One of the most common mistake is measuring the outside of the walls instead of the inside of the walls of the padel court. The measurements of the playing area must be taken within the walls of the court.

Another mistake that some people make is failing to provide enough end run-off for the players. Providing enough end run-off for the players is important since the lobs that the players hit may travel more further and higher than the players may expect. The ground sloping down away from the padel court should have a slope of one percent to allow water to drain away from the playing area.

Moreover, if the padel court has glass wall, it is important to make sure that builders build the walls on steel frames to support the glass walls of the court. There is alot of ways to ruin the construction if you dont watch the dimensions. Its a luxurios sport that needs moddern facilities.
