Sandwich Sudoku is good variant of Sudoku that mixes a bit of math in the solving. It obeys the basic rules of normal Sudoku. In every row column and block must appear all numbers of 1 until 9 without repetitions anywhere.
Some versions work on 6×6 grid here every row column and 2×3 box stores the figures 1 until 6.
The puzzle comes with extra numbers outside of the grid at every row and column. Those numbers show the amount of the cells between the 1 and the 9 in that row or column. For 6×6 grids the clues show amounts between 1 and 6.
All such Sudokus need at least one 1 or 9 to explain the amounts. Without them the answers could be several.
Sandwich Sudoku calculator or something like SumUp really help. SumUp shows all possible combinations for each amount. Like this you quickly see possibilities for some box during solving of Killer Sudoku.
Combination panel for Killer and Sandwich puzzles can be hidden or turned on in game settings. Also found online solvers for variants as killer little killer thermo and sandwich.
Math helps in the logic of the game. For some row or column the amount of 1 until 9 is 45. The cells between them total 35 minus the Sandwich amount.
The 10 comes from 1+9. Some Sandwich Sudokus have amounts with only one combination. For example for divide 15 in four cells it is possible only by means of 2 3 4 and 6.
Because 1 and 9 form the breads they cant be use for the inside part. So from 3 6 7 8 stay only two ways with 4 5 7 8. Generator for Sandwich Sudoku puzzles are available on GitHub.
