Rummy are card game with equal cards, in that the main task is made up of to form groups. Such groups can be made up of sets, so three or four cards of same rank, or from runs, so three or more cards in order from same color. The main goal is go from the game one from the first or get more Points than the opponents.
Every card owns fixed value in Points. Those values play role in two modes. First they determine, whether one can open groups, that requires at least three cards with amount of 30 Points or more.
Second, they help to count the Points of leftover cards at the end of round. The rule about 30 Points for opening belongs to the official rules, but friends can choose their own home variants.
The values of the cards range by the version. In Rummy 500 value aces 15 Points, cards of 10 until King have 10 Points, and cards of 2 until 10 value 5 Points. In some other forms the aces count only 1 Point, the number cards of 2 until 10 match their seen value, and Kings, Queens and Jacks each has 10 Points.
Aces sometimes can serve as high or low card, what also alters there Points rating.
When some beat in hand, one adds the Points of all cards, that stays in the hands of the other players. This amount becomes the winning score for the winner in that round. Round ends, when one player arranges his whole hand in valid groups from runs or sets.
The first, that reaches the agreed total of won Points, beat. Commonly the goal are 300 Points.
Points Rummy is famous variant of the 13-card Indian Rummy. It happens quickly and deliver prompt results. The player, that first does valid statement, win with 0 Points.
The Points of the losers depend on the uncounted cards, that stays in their hands. In 101 or 201 Points Rummy counts the same rule. The winner always receives 0, while the losers receive penalty Points.
Wise strategy is release himself of precious cards as Jacks, Queens, Kings and possibly aces soon, if they do not fit in any set or run. Like this one keeps his Points total low, in case that opponent declares before.
Go Rummy mean to arrange or lay whole hand in one turn. If that happens, the Points for that hand double. Some variants add bonus of 10 Points instead.
If player quits in the start of the first round, the penalty is only 20 Points. But if one quits more late or simply loses, the penalty can reach 80 Points, independently of the kept cards. Lose three rounds in sequence also match todefeat, with all staying cards counted as penalty Points.
