Arcana is a game that contains a complex process for scoring at the end of the game. Res Arcana’s scoring process is comprised of many different component that are to be added together to determine the final score of the game. The score for Res Arcana is calculated as a combination of the score from places, the score from monuments, artifact text, mage bonuses, creature, dragons, and the remaining essence.
Due to the complexity of the individual components of Res Arcana’s scoring process, it is helpful for players to employ a calculator to determine the score of the game. The calculator will allow the players to combine each of these components to determine the total score that the players will earn during the game. Each of these components earns its points according to different rule within the game; the calculator can help a player keep all of these rules together in there mind.
How to Count Your Score in Res Arcana
For instance, places earns points based off their printed value and any additional token that may be stored at the places. Monuments earn points according to a schedule when they are draw and revealed. Artifacts dont earn their points until certain components of the game trigger them.
Additionally, each of the dragons and creatures have their own scoring value but players that are focused upon monuments for example can easily overlook them. Therefore, a calculator can allow players to remember each of these components and ensure that they are accounted for in their score. One component of Res Arcana that often confuse many players is the game component known as essence.
Left over essence does not provide victory points to players in the basic game of Res Arcana, but can be used to break tie between players with the same victory point total. In the case of ties in the game, the player with the most gold, life, death, calm, and elan essence will be declared the winner of that tie. Some groups of players use variant rule for the game that provide victory points for essences.
Additionally, the player that passed with the first pass marker at the end of the game can be used to determine ties. Players that often use Res Arcana may have forgotten this component and that it can contribute to the game. Furthermore, reference tables on the game provide typical score and endgame profile charts for each of the strategy for players within the game.
For instance, players that focus upon earning places for their game will typically use their essences early in the game, leaving them with little essence remaining at the end of the game. Players that focus upon alchemy will attempt to accumulate as much essence as possible for the final game tiebreak. Thus, by observing the game and these reference tables, an individual may be able to determine if they are likely to win the game or if they need to work to earn more victory points.
Many player may make the mistake of only counting the victory point icon that are printed on the game components. Players may not remember to count the victory points that artifacts earn. Players may also forget that their rival player has the first-pass marker for the game.
Each of these components are accounted for in the calculator that Res Arcana players can use. It is also helpful for players to use a calculator to determine whether to claim one more place for their game or to use their remaining essence to play an artifact. The calculator allows players to set their target mode to reflect the number of players that are playing the game and for the Lux expansion of Res Arcana.
Additionally, by adjusting the target mode for players to count the victory points that will be earned for their game, players can determine if they are within reach of the target number or if they are out of reach of achieving those victory points for the game. Players may feel pressure to race into the final round of the game, thus, it is important for them to understand which components of Res Arcana will earn their points. Therefore, it is crucial for them to understand which victory point source will contribute to their score as players are unaware of which sources will score the most victory points.
